The Surf King
The Surf King Amp is a point-to-point, hand-wired 50W tube head with a 15" open-back cabinet.
Based on the "Normal" channel of a Fender Showman, (Volume, Treble, Bass, Presence), The Surf King employs two 30W 6L6 output tubes instead of four. It has higher tube voltages from a Toroidal power transformer and modern circuit improvements to reduce unwanted distortions. All new, modern parts that don't drift with temperature and are significantly less noisy.
The preamp stage delivers a linear, smooth volume sweep before it gets loud. In other words, it's not full blast at 2... more like 6. This linear volume curve allows for greater control, especially in smaller venues. This amp is loud when you need it, and has a useable volume control when you don't.
Covered in rough-blonde tolex and finished with oxblood grill cloth & brown dog-bone handles, its appearance evokes a vintage surf feel at first sight. The nearly matching weights make for an easy, two-handed symmetrical carry.
