Austin Mics Workshop
Miramar and City College DIY Ribbon Microphone Workshop.
Sat, Oct 14, Miramar College 10am – 5pm, $299 + CA tax
Build your own world-class recording microphone in this one-day audio workshop!
Join us at the DIY Ribbon Microphone Building Workshop at Miramar College on Saturday, Oct 14, 10am – 5pm. Students will spend the day building their own world-class AUSTIN Ribbon Microphone (www.AustinMics.com)
At this hands-on workshop, you will bend the metal mesh windscreen into shape, cut and corrugate thin ribbon foil, and solder the electronics together to produce a hand-built, heirloom recording tool that you will be proud to own and use for decades. Tools and instructors will be there to help everyone build the mic according to the plans and videos below.
Note: This is the same workshop that is held at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, UNLV, the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in AZ, and many others, Discounted for students, faculty, and AES Members to $299. ($349 for Professionals – Paying a little more keeps pricing affordable for students.)
This is an intermediate-level class. Previous experience soldering and using hand tools is great, and we will call on your experience during class. If you are new to Do-It-Yourself audio, instructors, videos and printed plans will guide everyone through each step. Everyone leaves with a working microphone!
The class is limited to 15 students.
